What if you had to choose between two worlds?
After months of amazing adventures and secrecy, Molly and Victor find peace in each other’s arms. Adam’s memory has been erased. The secret of the Arkanians is safe. Life couldn’t be more perfect.
But Molly is robbed of her short-lived happiness when a devastating tragedy strikes her family, shattering her entire existence. Faced with a terrifying future, she feels that there is nothing left for her on Earth but an insensitive aunt and her little brother, while Arkana promises a place where she might find happiness and purpose again.
Victor tries to convince Molly to move to his village in Arkana, where they can live together in secret. But Molly refuses to live in the shadows. She wants to be a Sentinel and join the fight against the Terrakas. But getting into the Academy requires more than a pretty face.

Wow... okay. It's taken me forever to read this one but it's not because it wasn't good. It was actually GREAT! It's simply taken me so long because life gets in my way entirely too often. Grr. Darn life.
Ha. Anyways... back to the fabulous goodness that was Valley of Darkness part 1!
I can't tell you enough how amazing the world is that the author has created. I want to GO there! Just see it with my own eyes! The creativity is just... there are no words. Love it.
Now, here's the deal. I really liked the first book - just disliked the insta-love. Valley of Darkness - LOVED this one! I honestly knew I'd like it because I loved the world that was built in book 1 and I loved the characters. But this one blew me away. There was absolutely no way for me to predict some of the plot twists. I was speechless... I teared up a few times... I wanted to reach out and hug poor Molly on so many occasions. I mean... seriously did NOT expect what hit her life. Victor's character really found a place in my heart during this one. He was... so supportive and caring... Gosh, I just loved him.
If you haven't read book 1, you definitely can't just jump into this one. You NEED the background in book 1 before starting this one. Whelan's writing flowed seemingly effortless and things just... clicked for me. I loved the time difference in this Valley of Darkness. It was like it showed itself more and began to actually be a prominent concern. Loved it. Okay... Sorry guys. I keep saying that over and over again.
Overall, I loved this one even more than book 1. It seemed everything just fell into its place. Loved it! Can't wait for more!!!!!
